Where should I put my
rain gauge?
For best results, place
your rain gauge in the path of prevailing storms. If, for example, storms
usually come out of the north, place your gauge on the north side of your
house. Be sure to place it at least 15Ő from any obstructions such as building
or trees.
Can I leave my rain
gauge out all winter? Will the tube crack?
You can leave it outside
in freezing temperatures, although it wonŐt give any accurate readings. The
measurement tube is polycarbonate which is impervious to weather.
The blue tube isnŐt
floating anymore. What could be wrong?
The copper flute could
need cleaning. Remove the blue tube and wipe it off with a soft rag. Hose out
the flute, using a bottle brush if necessary. If a thorough cleaning doesnŐt
help, the flute may have developed a leak. Contact us for a replacement.
How can I polish the
copper flute?
You can polish the flute
using any commercial copper polish or your can try some of our favorite kitchen
copper polishes: rub the flute with a lemon half dipped in salt or use ordinary
ketchup as a polish. Both work greatÉcheap and non toxic!
Can the slate clock
be left outdoors in winter?
Yes, although in very
cold temperatures (below 25 F) the battery may slow down causing the clock to
read inaccurately.
Where is the best
location for my thermometer?
Generally, itŐs best to
place your thermometer in a shaded location so that the reading isnŐt
influenced by direct sun.
Where are these
products made?
Our rain gauges, clocks
and thermometers are all made in the USA.
